CLT 543:  RUSSIAN LITERATURE[1]

In-depth formal and historical/cultural analysis of selected aspects and problems of literature created in Russian language; its development and the major literary movements from the middle of the 19th century to the present; study of critical realism and its aesthetic platform; Russian avant-garde literature of the 20th century; from fin-de-siècle Decadence to “writing for the desk drawer” under Stalin: aesthetics of Socialist realism; post-Realist trends; Dystopian novel; Russian literary émigré; postmodernist / post- communist writings. Set texts would be studied in English translation.
