Prof. Edwin Weihe from English Department, Seattle University visited the Department of Literature on March 18 and  presented a paper on “Being in the Neighborhood: Charles Johnson and August Wilson in Seattle.”

Prof. Weihe shared his thoughts and generated a discussion about the sharply different perspectives of two African-American writers on the issue of identity and race. Using Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun and Bruce Norris’ “update” in Clybourne Park, as well as American philosopher Elizabeth Anderson’s writings “on integration.”
