Association of Commonwealth Literatures and Language Studies Conference Ends on a High

The 20th Triennial Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies Conference 2025 was hosted by the Department of Literature, University of Nairobi, from 1st to 5th July, 2025. The conference, whose theme was "Transcultural Englishes in a Multipolar World", attracted world renowned keynote speakers. Simon Gikandi, the Princeton University-based critic, spoke on "Decolonizing English - An Incomplete Project" while Yvonne Owuor, author of highly acclaimed novels, Dust and Dragonfly Sea, delivered her keynote address entitled "World by Word." Other keynote speakers at the conference were Ugandan novelist Goretti Kyomuhendo, who focused on "Intersections of Practice, Activism and Literary Production", Grace Musila on "Refusal", and Mukoma wa Ngugi on "Writers and Scholars in Politics and the Work of Decolonization."

The ACLALS Conference attracted delegates from all over the world.
