French Embassy and AgroParisTech Partner with UoN to Modernize French Resource Center Through SHIFT-KF Support

On Friday, 12th June 2026, the Department of Literature hosted a courtesy visit from representatives of the French Embassy and AgroParisTech (France), including delegates from the School of Business and the Faculty of Agriculture. The visit followed a request for a consultative meeting on the modernization of the French Resource Center at the University of Nairobi, aimed at strengthening its role in supporting academic and cultural engagement.

The discussions focused on enhancing academic collaboration and upgrading the Center to better support learning, cultural exchange, and student engagement across the University. A key outcome of the meeting was the consideration of service teaching arrangements involving the School of Business and the Faculty of Agriculture, designed to introduce a beginner’s French course for the two faculties, thus broadening the Center’s contribution to teaching and learning across different academic units.

The modernization initiative is funded through France’s SHIFT-KF Program, reflecting the continued partnership between France and the University of Nairobi in advancing education and innovation. The project will also support capacity-building initiatives for both students and staff to enhance academic and professional development. The Department appreciates the ongoing support from the French Embassy and AgroParisTech and looks forward to the successful implementation of the project, which is expected to create a more dynamic and resourceful environment for the University community.
