Prof Siundu Elected to Executive Committee of ICLA

Prof Godwin Siundu was elected as an Executive Committee Member of the International Comparative Literature Association (AILC-ICLA. The election was conducted during the AILC-ICLA General Assembly, held on 31st July 2025 during the XXIV AILC-ICLA Congress in Seoul, South Korea.  The International Comparative Literature Association was founded in 1955. Since then, it has created bigger spaces where scholars of comparative literature collaborate and exchange ideas to promote literary scholarship beyond geographical, linguistic, and cultural boundaries. This way, the Association has deepened scholarly interest in race, gender, sexuality, class, ethnicity, and religion to the extent that they are the subjects of literary imagination and criticism. The Association is open to membership by writers, artists, and critics, including early career scholars.

With this election for a three-year term, the Department of Literature, University of Nairobi, will be the locus of mobilizing more collaborations involving Africa-based scholars of comparative literature to enrich the discipline with the hope of bringing one of the biennial congresses of AILC-ICLA to Africa in the future.
