Youth conference " Can Ubuntu Be Incorporated into Higher Learning "

Today 12 March 2025, the Department of Literature,University of Nairobi hosted a thought-provoking conference at Chiromo Campus under the theme "Can Ubuntu Be Incorporated in Higher Learning." The conference brought together students from various facilities. The event featured Dr. Sungano Chigogora, a Principal Teaching Fellow in Epidemiology at Imperial College London. Dr. Chigogora is responsible for admissions and curriculum development for the MSc Epidemiology program at the School of Public Health. During her presentation, Dr. Chigogora explored the integration of Ubuntu—a Southern African philosophy emphasizing communal values and interconnectedness—into higher education. She discussed how these principles could foster collaborative learning environments and enhance academic communities. Her insights sparked engaging discussions among attendees, highlighting the potential benefits of incorporating Ubuntu's values into academic settings. The conference successfully provided a platform for students and faculty to reflect on the role of cultural philosophies in shaping educational practices, encouraging a holistic approach to learning that transcends traditional academic boundaries.
