Prose

The Department has a long history of research in literary prose from across the world. Indeed, the Department is associated with Ngugi wa Thiong'o, Chris Wanjala and Wanjiku Mukabi Kabira, some of the leading prose writers and critics in the world. Students are exposed to prose from Kenya, East Africa, Africa and the rest of the world.

• The Department of Literature, in collaboration with Kenya Oral Literature Association and Native Intelligence, an independent research think-tank, is organising a Conference themed "East Africa at 50: A Celebration of Histories and Futures." The Conference will run from 10-12 September 2013, at the University of Nairobi.
