On Monday May 25 2026, the Department of Literature was honoured to host a delegation from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill’s (UNC) African Studies Center (ASC), alongside teachers from North Carolina schools, during their learning visit to Kenya held from 24th to 29th May 2026.
The courtesy visit provided a valuable opportunity for interaction and academic exchange between the visitors, lecturers, and students of the Department.
The visiting team comprised nine participants from the United States and four Kenyan representatives, and was led by Prof. Eunice Sahle, Director of the UNC African Studies Center. Discussions during the session focused on literature, African studies, cross-cultural learning, and opportunities for academic collaboration and professional development.
The Department appreciates Twaweza Communications, Nairobi, for facilitating the visit and creating an avenue for meaningful engagement between scholars and educators from Kenya and the United States.
The visit reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to fostering international partnerships, intercultural dialogue, and academic excellence.
