On Friday, June 20, 2025, the University of Nairobi’s Taifa Hall reverberated with a vibrant tribute to the late Prof. Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o.
Literary scholars, students, writers, and cultural practitioners came together in a moving ceremony filled with readings from his most celebrated works, theatrical performances, and heartfelt reflections on his legacy. Speakers honored Ngũgĩ’s bold efforts to decolonise literature, elevate indigenous languages, and inspire social justice.
