Today, the Department of Literature received students and pupils from Kathiani Girls High School and St. Jude Junior Secondary School in Makueni, who visited the French Resource Centre (CRKF).
Today, the Chairperson Literature attended a Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Consultative Forum held at at the Wangari Mathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies.
The Annual National French Workshop convened by the Kenya Association of Teachers of French (K.A.T.F) in conjunction with the French Embassy in Kenya, was held on 28th-29th February 2024 at the University of Nairobi Towers. The event brought together officials from the French Embassy in Kenya, teachers from both primary and secondary schools as well as public and private universities.
The purpose of the The Open Day is to enable members of the public to interact with the University Community. These interactions include ; career guidance and counselling, alumni networking, showcasing the various programs that Department has to offer among other things.
The career options for those students who wish to join the Department of Literature include : Acting, Movies, Films, Drama, Television, Teaching, Publishing, Story Telling , writing of novels among others
The University of Nairobi held its Faculty and Campus Students Association (FCSA) annual elections. The elections were held virtually on Friday March 25th, 2022.
There were three teams competing for FCSA office in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences FOASS; Team Success, Team Okuz and Team Integrity.
Team Integrity took the lead with a total of 1361 votes followed closely by Team Okuz with 1179 votes. The incoming Chairperson representing FOASS in FCSA is Peter Nguka.
The faculty of arts and social sciences was recognized during the performance and contracting awards through its various departments and the staff who work under it. This recognition was made to both teaching and non-teaching staff who have been exemplary in their performances.
BEd in Literature students preparing sketches that educate about the prevention of COVID-9 virus.

On the 10th of March, 2020 the department got a visit from Stephano an Italian author who had come to share his experiences and also motivate the students. He has written a book about marathoners in Spain and a marathon that happened in Athens. He is also in works of writing another book about marathoners in Kenya and Ethiopia.
