We are thrilled to announce that Elssie Mumbi Mwangi, one of our talented UoN French CluB (CEFRUNA) students, has secured 3rd place in the prestigious Concours d'Éloquence (French Proficiency Test), held on March 7th, 2025, at Alliance Française Nairobi.
The Concours d'Éloquence is a renowned competition that celebrates linguistic skills, eloquence, and mastery of the French language. Elssie’s outstanding performance is a testament to her dedication, hard work, and passion for the French language.
We are excited to announce our ongoing partnership with Stellenbosch University through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which aims to foster academic collaboration and research opportunities. Recently, Beatrice Munala visited our department to say farewell before embarking on an exciting new chapter. She will be joining Stellenbosch University for a joint PhD program in collaboration with the University of Nairobi (UoN). On February 18th, 2025, Multan Productions, led by Executive Producer Reuben Odanga, donated two workstations valued at over KSh 800,000 to the Department of Literature. The workstations will be installed in Room ED101 and will be used by students enrolled in Film Studies for film editing purposes.
Present at the donation ceremony were Dr. Simon Peter Otieno, Coordinator of Performing Arts, Mr. Julius Kanyari, and students from the department.
Today the UoN French Club CEFRUNA went to Kenyatta University for benchmarking on how to make the french club more vibrant.
On Friday, October 4, 2024, CEFRUNA, the University of Nairobi's French club, participated in an inter-university French proficiency competition that brought together similar clubs from public universities. The club fielded two teams, each consisting of three participants. The teams achieved 6th and 4th place out of seven universities. This proficiency competition aims to prepare students for a national inter-university debate scheduled for March 2025 during Francophone Week.
Dr. Mumia Osaaji presented a donation of 11 titles on science fiction to the Library and Information Services department on 23rd August 2024.
On Friday June 14, 2024 the Department of Literature , University of Nairobi organized a book launch at Alliance Française in Nairobi. The event was graced by the Chair Department of Literature, UoN staff, students of Literature among other invited guests.
